Autistic spectrum disorder for pediatric dentists, problems and some solutions.

Current attitudes will be explored to this often perplexing condition which is becoming such a common presentation, not only in our surgeries and but also in everyday life.

The lecture will provide an update on current research on the subject including aetiology, genetics and barriers which impact on dental care.

The lecture will address the importance and relevance of recognising sensory issues in children with ASD and suggest coping strategies for helping the child and family adapt to these sensory challenges. It will also present practical management approaches and communication strategies for the paediatric dentist in their delivery of dental care.
